Gathering a People

We began gathering people who were like-minded and adventuresome.  Most of them were people from First Church, but there were a few who had begun worshiping at First at “just the right time” and jumped in with us.  We started meeting weekly to talk about values, mission, and coming up with a name.  Mostly we prayed and listened.

It was a lot like dating.  They really had to get to know me and begin to understand the vision for a new church.  Some stuck and others returned to being a part of First Church.  This isn’t a sad statement.  It’s just right.  God moves in the hearts of some, and others have different jobs to do.  Like in the book of Nehemiah when God moved in the hearts of some to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, and the others sent them off with all they needed to do the job.
